Potter remembered at T-V sports awards

Story by Jon Dinan
GRAHAMSVILLE – Joining Sullivan West, Tri-Valley opened its spring sports awards program with a moment of silence in honor of Rob Potter, the Democrat’s well-liked sports editor who passed away unexpectedly last month.
“He will be deeply missed,” said athletic director Derek Adams. “He was a dedicated professional.”
The program moved on with Adams presenting girls’ track and field coach Missy Iatauro with the Distinguished Service award and boys’ track and field coach Joe Iatauro with Dr. William F. Moran Service Award.
Jim Bernstein was uniquely honored as the Most Valuable Player in both boys’ golf and track and field. It’s very rare that an athlete even participates in simultaneous sports nontheless excels in them.
To the senior athletes, Adams sent them off with this advice: “Seniors, take your skills and you will make a positive difference where ever you go.”
Robert Hayes, the Field management teacher awarded his students bats for their dedicated work on the Tri-Valley athletic fields.
After all the awards were handed out, Richard Ross presented a slide show and a spring synopsis.
