Amanda Wilson of Woodridge, and Mekayla Perneszi and Kali Seastrand of Hurleyville, are three of only 300 high school cheerleaders and dancers from across the nation who will be performing in the world famous London New Year’s Day Parade and Philadelphia ThanksgivingDay Parade.
High School division qualifying cheerleaders, such as Wilson and Seastrand, will be going to London, while Middle School division qualifiers, like Mekayla Perneszi, will take part in the Thanksgiving celebrations at our nation’s birthplace.
The Fallsburg High School cheerleaders were invited to participate in the British bash and Philly festivities after they were named All-American Cheerleaders by the Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA).
All-Americans had to earn their selection by attending tryouts at various cheerleading camps. The camps were hosted by Varsity, a national cheerleading training organization.
Only the top 12 percent of the cheerleaders and dancers who attend Varsity camps earn the chance to march in a holiday spectacular.
“This is the 26th year Varsity has been able to give talented cheerleaders the opportunity, where they can showcase their skills to a very enthusiastic international & local audience; we are excited to be a part of it,” said Fallsburg Cheerleading Coach Kiffanie Rodgers-Sanchez.
Collections for the above mentioned cheerleaders and their coach to attend this event are currently being taken.
