Robert Frederick Danzer
Former Owner of Danzer’s Garage, 87

Robert Frederick Danzer, 87, of Louisburg, North Carolina, died Friday, January 18, 2013, at Franklin Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Danzer was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during WWII. He owned and operated Danzer’s Exxon in White Sulphur Springs, NY, from 1970 until 1992 when he moved to Louisburg.
Services will be private.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn W. Danzer; two sons, Richard Robert Danzer of Alstead, NH, and Gary Wayne Danzer of Louisburg, NC; four grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

Carolyn ‘Mickey’ Spellman Murphy, 83
September 8, 1929 - January 19, 2013

Carolyn “Mickey” Spellman Murphy, 83, of Newport passed away on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at Valley Health Services in Herkimer surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Murphy was born in Herkimer on September 8, 1929, the daughter of the late Dean Morgan and Genevieve Clifford Spellman. She was united in marriage with the late Joseph E. (Fred) Murphy, Sr. on November 24, 1949 in Newport. Mr. Murphy died February 2, 2010.
Mickey was a full-time mother and homemaker. She was best known for her cookies, and caring attitude towards all who came into her life. She was previously employed at Borden’s of Newport, Duofold of Ilion, and West Canada Valley Central School.
She was Past President of the 5th District American Legion Auxiliary, Past President of Herkimer County American Legion Auxiliary and held numerous other offices at the County level and at West Canada Valley Unit 1524 American Legion Auxiliary. She was a 68-year member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Mickey was also a member of 8 & 40 Herkimer Salon, the Altar Rosary Society and Catholic Daughters Court Reardon at St John’s, Newport.
She is survived by her eleven children and their families: Bridget Santa Maria and her husband, Joe, of Frankfort; Patricia Murphy of Syracuse; John and his wife, Deborah, of Newport; Timothy and his wife, Kim, of Williamsburg, VA; Joseph, Jr. and his wife, Lynn, of Newport; Mary Lou Flansburg of Newport; Matthew and his wife, Debra, of Jeffersonville, NY; Mark and his wife, Kimberly, of Callicoon, NY; Catherine Murphy of Johnstown; Margaret Schumacher and her husband, Keith, of Cold Brook; Michael and his wife, Lisa, of Strasburg, VA; and also by 30 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by her sister, Elizabeth “Betty” Widay of Herkimer; her sister and brother-in-law, Mildred and Edward Falk of Newport; her sister, Katherine “Katy” Wilson of Herkimer; her brother, John Spellman and his companion, Phyllis Ruggerio of Ilion; and her sister-in-law, Dorothy Spellman of Newport; and several nieces, nephews and god-children.
She was predeceased by her husband, Joe; an infant son; her brother, Robert; her brother-in-law, Jack Murphy and his wife, Mildred; her brothers-in-law, Michael Widay and Everett Wilson; her daughter-in-law, Katherine (Newman) Murphy; a granddaughter, Barbara Ellen Wilson; and a grandson, Kimberly Nelson Murphy.
Calling hours will be held at the Autenrith Funeral Home, 7479 Main Street, Newport, NY on Thursday, January 24, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 1524 will conduct their services at the funeral home on Thursday evening at 7 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John’s Church, Main Street, Newport on Friday, January 25, at 10:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Carolyn’s memory can be made to the Newport Volunteer Fire Company, 7370 Main Street, Newport, NY 13416 or St. John’s Church Restoration Fund, P.O. Box 475, Newport, NY 13416. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home for both.
